One day round-trip from Kyoto/Shin-Osaka: 41 minutes from Kyoto to Gifu Hashima by shinkansen, and then 60 minutes to Taniai by car
谷合靈氣協会, Taniai Reiki Association, a Reiki group in Taniai Gifu, will book taxi or bus for you and
meet you in Taniai. Let me introduce a rough estimation from them.
1) From Gifu Hashima shinkansen station to Taniai with a driver. Taxi and bus do not have a translator.
60 minutes/one way
Jumbo taxi for 1-4 people: 50,000 yen
Jumbo taxi for 5-8 people: 60,000 yen
Micro bus for 9-14 people: 65,000 yen
Middle size bus for 15-29 people: 75,000 yen
Big size bus for 30 and more: 85,000 yen
Book bigger vehicle than the number of people when you carry big suitcases.
Contact them when you come from other stations or airport.
2) Lunch in 山務 Restaurant Sanmu
30 min bus ride from Amataka shrine
Let them know if you have a particular diet.
Pay for lunch yourself on the day.

3) Extra cost
Pay extra fee when you stay in Taniai longer than 180 minutes (including lunch).
15% in busy season: Late April, May, June, September, October and November.
Prayer and purification by Shinto priest in Amataka Shrine including Shinto amulet or Ofuda (Shinto paper charm) : 3,000 yen/person in cash on the day
Water spring that Usui Sensei's grandfather used to brew Japanese sake. 5 min walk from Amataka Shrine.
善導寺Zendo-ji Buddhism temple where the above water is drawn from the spring. 5 min walk from Amataka Shrine. You must make an appointment. When Buddhism priest is there,
he may give some Buddhism talk. Usui sensei's ancestor's grave is said to be there, but you are not allowed to see it.
